The National Housing Law Project (NHLP) is a four-decade old public interest law firm and home to the country’s legal experts on federally-assisted housing programs. NHLP was recognized by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation in 2007 as a Creative and Effective Institution.

Currently available positions at NHLP include:

Fellowships. With a staff of nationally-recognized experts in federal housing law, NHLP provides the ideal professional home for the design and implementation of innovative legal fellowship projects. NHLP has a demonstrated record of securing fellowships with innovative projects at the intersection of housing, civil rights, domestic violence, consumer law, and other key issues.

Law Student Internships. NHLP seeks law students for summer and school-year internships. Recent significant student work projects have included writing amicus curiae briefs; researching the impact of proposed housing legislation and regulations; drafting testimony for Congressional hearings; submitting comments on proposed regulations; drafting amendments to federal housing legislation; providing research assistance in drafting pleadings and motions; drafting portions of housing advocacy guides used across the country; and summarizing case law for NHLP's Housing Law Bulletin.

Volunteering. NHLP seeks professional and non-professional level volunteers for various functions. Your time as an NHLP volunteer will expose you to the workings of a highly-successful nonprofit, which has positively impacted the rights of hundreds of thousands of our nation’s low-income families and individuals.
